There has been
a Community run playgroup in Banwell for forty years. It has been on the school
site for twenty-five of them. Over the years it has served the local families
in the village very well. Throughout its history the playgroup has maintained
very strong links with both Banwell Primary School and the local Community.
Playgroup sees itself very much as part of the local community and has
established links with the Banwell & Winscombe Children's Centre, the Baby
and Toddler Group, local services, the annual village carnival and church
groups.
For the seven years of our forty year existence, and small
band of parents have been raising money for a new building, our previous one
had been condemned by the local authorities. For the last 2 1/2 years our
playgroup was in exile down at the Youth and Community Club. Now however, we
are back where we belong up behind the Primary School in our new building,
which opened in September 2007 and officially opened in November 2007. You can
see photographs of the rise of our new building in the photo's section on the
website.
Banwell Buddies is a community playgroup run by a voluntary
Management Committee. It is very reliant on the goodwill of volunteers,
committee members and an extremely committed staff team. We hope you will take
the opportunity to get involved as much as possible in the running of the
service and feel enabled to share your special skills and experience to the
benefit of all the children, should you decide to bring your child to us.
If you would like further information or would like to arrange a visit
please telephone the office.
Yours Sincerely,
Vikki Fitzpatrick
